Ksham,Fire,Claws and some chants-Part 1

Om Ayieem Hreem Shreem Kleem Shree-Mathre' Namaha!

Today, I got a message from Divine Mother that my first blog should be on Prathyangira Devi.

Let me start with symbology, then some lore and then let me enunciate the Niyamas according to various Tantras for the worship of the Devi. Iam not a regular blogger, so please excuse me, if my blogspots do not arrive on time! Sarvam Paradevatha-Iccha!

Symbology of the Deity:

Prathyangira Devi is -Dark Blue in complexion--Neelavarnayutham Devi

Terrible in aspect-GHORARUPINI

Having a lion's face(Some texts say thousand lions) with reddened eyes and riding a lion-Simhamukhe' Rakthavarna Netraabhyam.

Entirely nude or wearing black garments--Nagna-Kalavastra dhaarini

Wearing human skulls--Rundamaladharini

---Next post, I will elucidate, what these symbols mean.

Her hair stands dishevelled--Jatini

She holds a trident, a serpent in the form of a noose, a hand-drum and a skull in her four hands.

She is said to be the spouseof Bhairavi, and she has a variant form as in Atharvana Bhadrakali.

The Sage Durvasa(Doorvasha Deshika) is a devotee and He worshipped her to destroy His sins.

(To be continued...)

Yours yogically,

Shreeram Balijepalli
